Absolutely amazing bowl. The soup hit that perfect balance you hope for but rarely get, clean deeply savory broth with just enough richness to carry everything without feeling heavy. The wontons were tender and well seasoned. The little details stood out: sweet carrots, crisp zucchini, soft mushrooms, and that mix of onion and green onion that layered in real depth. The add-ons took it to another level. Fresh bean sprouts and citrus from the lemon brought brightness and crunch. Adding some fish sauce and chili oil gave it that custom punch of bold spicy flavor. The coconut smoothie (with plenty of coconut shavings/chunks) on the side is a perfect pairing. Cold, creamy, slightly sweet to balanced the heat and salt of the soup exactly right. This is the kind of meal that feels both comforting and thoughtfully crafted. You can tell they care about the broth, and everything else that goes with it. Would come back for this alone.

We eat here regularly and have recommended it often. It is Asian, Vietnamese cuisine. We reserved for a large group once and that all went well. It is a family owned business and they care very much to make sure that you are happy. The service is very attentive. They have a large variety on their menu and the prices are extremely reasonable. We can buy a dinner here for the current price of a sandwich lunch elsewhere. The restaurant is relatively new so is freshly remodeled and extremely clean. We have enjoyed everything that we have ordered here.

I got the eggplant tofu - it looks great and the tofu and eggplant were all made perfectly but it’s overall bland. I added salt and it could have used some pepper too. I get similar dish at tasty Thai and it’s very flavorful. This dish has a lot of potential and could be so good, the sauce just needs more flavor with a kick. I would rate this dish 3/5 but it can easily become 5/5, if any management actually reads this please just make small adjustments and your food will be so good. I got the chicken noodle soup to go and that was very good 5/5. I think this place their pho/soups seem very good but their other dishes are not as good. Hence I’m giving them 4/5 overall. The ingredients are all good, presentation, how things are made just needs a little flavor and could be so good.

This place has the most delicious pho broth! I get pho even if I'm not in the mood for it! My favorite appetizers are the spring rolls with peanut sauce and the egg rolls!! I found this gem in August this year and I've already been here 4 times since!! Everything I've ordered is delicious! Fair prices over all. We have yet to try the roast duck. They're always sold out by dinner. The table service is excellent! Each time I've gone I have had a different server, they are very attentive, they kept my cup full. And the better servers kept my table clean from excess empty dishes. It was a constant flow of people coming and going, it wasn't too loud moderate noise. It's nice and clean. Even the restrooms were exceptionally clean. It's bright and spacious. There is so much to choose from on the menu and it keeps us going back to try something different! We enjoyed Gia Lai restaurant and if you enjoy Vietnamese food, you will enjoy it too!! Highly recommend!

This place is, I'm gonna say it, the BEST Vietnamese restaurant in Modesto and one of the best restaurants overall. We first came after the Modesto Marathon and we were all pleasantly surprised by the overall taste, portion size, and price. We came here again when we visited Modesto for our parents' birthdays. Their pho is, even though we only ordered medium, a large enough portion for my wife and I. We also shared the Vermicelli with grilled chicken and wasn't able to finish either of the dishes. This time I ordered Vermicelli with Grilled beef #39 and my wife ordered Fine Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken #44A. The meats were all perfectly seasoned and tender. My wife keeps talking about how delicious her dish was even the day after. The price for the 6 of us was around $100, how amazing is that? Quality and quantity at an amazing price. Now to give you some perspective, I grew up in Modesto, but we have lived in LA for the past 13 years now. We both agree that this is better than the Vietnamese restaurants we've had in Southern California, and we have had quite a few. It's that good.
